Mechanical Field Engineer
Hager Environmental and Atmospheric Technologies (HEAT), headquartered in Knoxville, TN, is searching for Mechanical Engineers with at least 3-5 years of experience and must be willing to travel.

They should be very comfortable with working in a team while working on multiple projects at a time and should be able to work in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines. The ideal candidate must be able to wear many different hats and be able to contribute to a range of projects. This job does require over 40% travel both within North America and Europe to perform the emissions testing equipment setup and project management for extended durations.

Essential Job Functions:

• Deploying the emission testing equipment
• Evaluates mechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs; applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
• Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods; testing properties.
• Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
• Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
• Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests as well as running calculations.
• Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
• Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special services.
• Maintains system and product database by writing computer programs and entering data.
• Completes projects by training and guiding technicians.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Exhibit and practice professional and courteous behavior while interacting with both internal and external customers.
• Interact within a cooperative environment through beneficial behaviors, commitment to common goals, contribution to problem-solving, communication of ideas and suggestions, and encouragement to other employees and departments.
• Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks
• Able to adhere to a work schedule including prompt and regular attendance
• Able to lift 50 pounds occasionally
• Able to pull and maneuver a small trailer (i.e. a boat trailer or small u-haul trailer)
• Lead a team of technicians and engineers in the field
• Familiarity with project management
• Able to think quickly and make smart decisions

Job Requirements

• Education: Minimum, 3-5 years experience with a degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Must be a self-starter
• Must be an innovative thinker who takes initiative and is able to take on projects with little guidance while maintaining cost-control measures
• Must have the ability to think and work quickly while thriving in a fast-paced environment
• Must be Solidworks proficient
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
• Detail-oriented, highly organized, able to document work
• Must be willing to travel over 40% of the time
• Must have great attention to detail
