Are you passionate about helping people in need? We provide a community of care to those who are involved in the correctional/rehabilitative life cycle. An affiliate of Vant4ge, we are Persevere, a national non-profit organization providing a coding education program that not only teaches inmates and parolees how to code, but also provides job search and job placement services, instruction in the soft skills necessary for the work environment, life skills education, mentoring support and entrepreneurial training forng their own businesses and marketing their coding services to companies nationwide.

Job Overview

The Director of Education develops and manages the delivery of coding curriculum for all Persevere students, with the purpose of advancing Persevere's mission of preparing them for meaningful and lucrative careers in the technology field. This position is also responsible for acquiring and maintaining program accreditation and grant funding.

General Responsibilities

  • Create an educational framework aligned to best practices with data driven assessments to measure effectiveness, resulting in streamlined reporting to governing agencies and procurement of grant funding

  • Lead the accreditation process and coordinate activities, records and systems to achieve accreditation status and maintain accreditation standards, including the establishment of proper documentation demonstrating compliance

  • Develop an intervention system with academic and behavioral outcomes to assess and support student learning

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with all stakeholders who can positively impact the educational experience

  • Train and retain skilled instructional staff to deliver desired program outcomes

  • Work with Persevere management on general funding initiatives

  • Other duties as assigned

Job Duties

  • Secure national and/or state accreditation and procure grant funding

  • Ensure that all requirements regarding the organization's education/certification programs are met

  • Oversee organization, enhancement and delivery of the coding curriculum and teaching methods

  • Develop a coding assessment and intervention or enrichment system for students

  • Stay up to date with current trends in coding education and state and federal certification standards and continuing education requirements

  • Identify internship qualifications and standards

  • Lead the recruitment, training and management of coding instructors for the delivery of technical curriculum

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or designee

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Education, with at least 5 years of education administration experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of MERN Stack and other coding languages taught in Persevere

  • Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation

  • Past success securing funding for an educational program

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills

  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people

  • Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed
